CELEBRATION OF PROPHET ELIJAH’S FEAST AND RENEWAL OF VOWS AT KOLA

On the 20th of July, Kola Scholastic community commemorated the feast of St. Elijah. It was very appropriate that on this day brothers at Kola took the opportunity to renew their vows. The day began with the Eucharist, presided over by Rev. Fr. Reginald Mworia OCD, the Second Councillor. The brothers’ singing lent further beauty to the celebrations. In his homily, Fr. Reginald imparted words of wisdom. He urged the brothers to embrace a life that mirrors the virtues of St. Elijah our father. Emphasizing the importance of a life devoted to prayer he encouraged the brothers to bear witness to God through their lives, just as Prophet Elijah did during his time.

The presence of Catholic Women’s Association (WAWATA) and Catholic Men’s Association (UWAKA) from St. Peter Claver Parish added further glow to the festivities. They were accompanied Rev. Fr. Sylvester Msemwa, their Parish Priest. It has been part of a cherished tradition for them to visit our Scholastic brothers annually, spending a day with them and bringing gifts as a sign of solidarity and support. Adding to the lustre of the event was the presence of Fr. Renatus Payovela, Rector, Frs. George Masambu and John Gibson, community members at Kola. Following the celebration of the Eucharist, the day continued with a fellowship meal. The shared meal gave ample time for sharing of views that strengthened the bonds of cordiality and unity.

The presence of our esteemed guests and the spiritual reflections and exchanges shared during the event served as a reminder of the importance of unity, prayer, and the example set by St. Elijah. This day of celebration and renewal was a testament to the enduring spirit of brotherhood and faith that binds us together as a community, inspiring us to continue our respective life’s journey with dedication and love.
