From September 23 to 27, 2024, the Junior Friars of the Vicariate of Tanzania experienced a moment of grace during a one-week seminar held at St. Joseph Monastery, Carmel Prayer House in Dodoma. The seminar aimed at equipping Junior Friars with the knowledge, skills, and guidance necessary for their Journey in Priesthood.
The seminar was facilitated by Rev. Fr. Paul Nampota, OCD, a renowned Carmelite Biblical Scholar from the Delegation of Malawi. He focused on the prophetic figure of Elijah, a central influence in Carmelite spirituality, who spoke for God and defended the oppressed. Fr. Paul Nampota emphasized that the prophetic dynamism of Elijah stems from his “zeal for the Lord God of Hosts,” highlighting how this spirituality can serve as a driving force for Carmelite Friars in their apostolic mission.
The engaging and interactive seminar was attended by nine friars, all with less than five years of priesthood experience. The Vicariate expresses its deep gratitude to Fr. Paul Nampota for his willingness to share his Carmelite insights and experiences with the junior friars.
