Carmelite Novitiate Community Malisho hit a milestone in its history in the Carmelite Vicariate of Tanzania, on 1^st of October 2025 as it celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its existence. It was a day of jubilation to the whole of Vicariate and in a special way to the Malisho Community. On 15^th October 2024 the Jubilee Year was inaugurated on the Solemnity of St Teresa of Jesus, with a concelebrated high mass presided by Fr. Peter Ulaya, who came to the Community as new member just after his ordination. During the Concelebrated mass the Jubilee Candle was lit by the Four Community members and one Novice representing others. This Jubilee Candle was lit every day during the Vespers as we used to pray the Jubilee Prayer and during Eucharistic celebration. Since then the community was preparing itself for the Jubilee celebrations through the Jubilee Prayer, having different talks on the life and spirituality of St Therese and finally having novena and seminar even to the lay people. Hence the Jubilee day was celebrated in a grand scale with faithful, invitees who were closely connected with the Malisho Community, Religious and Priests who joined the celebration. The Most Rev. Gervas Nayisonga, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mbeya was the presider; with two Councilors from the Province in India, Rev Fr Alphonse Britto and Rev Fr Joachim Rodrigues; Rev Fr Elius Malale, the Regional Vicar of the Vicariate; and the Vicariate Councilors Rev Fr Nelson Vas and Rev Fr Reginald Mworia; Rev Fr Minde the Dean of our deanery and our own Carmelite Priests and Priests from around. Also present Dr. Tulia Ackson, the Speaker of United Republic of Tanzania National Assembly and the President of Inter Parliamentary Unit. 

At the end of the mass Rev Fr Vicar put off the Jubilee Candle as the sign of ending the Jubilee Year of Malisho. Then followed some short program, first of all the priests, nuns, guests, leaders from different parishes and out stations and people were introduced. The priests who passed through Malisho Community and all those who worked and were present were facilitated: Frs. Stanislaus Rodrigues, Aureus Mwinuka, Reginald Mworia, Joyson Saldanha, Roshan Pinto, and Sunil Menezes. Novices sang a Jubilee song. Carmel Pre and Primary School children played a skit depicting the life of St Therese. Rev Fr Alphonse Britto, the Councilor speaking on behalf the Provincial, Rev Fr Sylvestre D’Souza thanked and congratulated the Vicariate for the hard work and the progress shown. Rev Fr Vicar speaking on the occasion thanked everyone. Archbishop Gervas Nayisonga in his speech praised and thanked the Carmelites for their service in his Archdiocese. Fr Raymond Santhanaz, the Superior of the Community in short thanked all. After the mass all people were served food in different places.
