On 21st July, 2024, St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish Mazulu – Mbezi Mwisho in the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam, celebrated the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. During four Sunday masses, the importance of the Feast, history behind scapular tradition, meaningful and devout wearing of the Blessed Scapular these aspects were explained to the congregation .
Fr. Stan Rodrigues Presided over festive high mass. In his homily, Fr. Stan, highlighted the importance of Mount Carmel in the life of prophet Elijah, as we read in the Sacred Scriptures. In his homily, he tried to show how Mt. Carmel became the symbol of holiness for the primitive Carmelites. He said that “fascinated by its beauty, they made their abode there; and took Our Lady as their Patroness and Guide. The Mountain always has been a symbol of God’s presence, and let us not tired of seeking the guidance of Our Lady, in climbing that mountain, by living in the presence of God”.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Choir of WAWATA (Catholic Women’s Association) led the faithful to have an active participation in the liturgy. Scapulars were blessed and distributed to all present. Rev. Fr. Vivian Menezes, the Parish Priest, thanked the Parish community for their support and co-operation and their goodness in helping the parish community.
