Matunungu was one of the Out Station of St. Martin of Tour Parish, Mpandangindo – Songea. There was a small shed where the faithful came to together to celebrate mass or to have the Sunday service in the absence of Priest. But in the course of time this shed was fallen and people were not able to rebuilt, it went on like that almost for ten years. The Mpandagindo Parish has decided to help them to rebuild the shed and to give them the privilege of having Sunday Mass once a month. Hence on 3rd of September 2017 was an inaugural mass at Matunungu to reinstate the outstation. Fr. Roshan Pinto, the Parish Priest presided over the Eucharist and Br. Cyprian Kihwele preached the homily. Faithful welcomed the priest and others with traditional songs. Then the shed and the surroundings were blessed. Around 25 elders and 15 children were present. Simple meal was served to all those who present by the faithful of Matunungu.
